JonTron A Factual Review

JonTron the ECH master himself is a content creator on YouTube that reviews games. He reviews games in a dramatic way in which he ties in story’s into his reviews that makes his content so unique and hilarious. In one of his reviews he goes so in depth with the history of the game, he acts it out as well. The games he reviews are old, pre 2000’nds such as Castlevainia, battletoads and Banjo Cazooie but also he reviews films such as the biggest flops of the century like Birdemic and food fight.

Jon started his career back in 2010 with a review of the game Daikatana, but his popularity like most Youtubers didn’t start of until he had his hit video Dinocity shared on the front page of reddit. This increased his popularity tenfold and his unique way of reviewing things where known across the airwaves of the internet. The original comment on the reddit post was  “After watching this, video game reviews really aren’t the same anymore,”. (check out his deviant art)

Shortly after this he co-founded  the ex Youtube partnership program normal boots that was turned into a regular website. On the website there are many different Youtube’s that post both exclusive and regular videos to Normalboots and YouTube.  So far they have recruited…

  • JonTron
  • PeanutButterGamer
  • Continue?
  • ProJared
  • TheComplitionist
  • Satchbag
  • And DidYouKnowGaming?

Jon works with the rest of the team at Normalboots collaborating with such things as doing some voice overs for the DidYouKnowGaming. A series that follows some of the facts you didn’t know about some of your favourite video games. All the content that Jon produces is showed a week before on the Normal boots a week before its put on YouTube (which is rarely because Jon doesn’t upload that often). He also joined the Polaris back in 2011 where he did collaborations with some of the biggest YouTuber’s out there. He appeared on the FRIEND ZONE panel at PAX east

That brings Jon to his next escapade where him and his good friend Arin (a famous online animator) created a very successful youtube channel called game grumps where they  play old video games. Although Jon and Arin were already very successful on there own but putting them together and we have a recipe of genius. There good friends the chemistry in the video reflect that. When the show started there channels have sky rocketed as viewers from either channel collided increasing the fan bases a whole. After a while Jon decided to focus more on his own show JonTron and left game grumps with a raver big shoes to fill in which DannySexBang from ninja sex party filled and now the show is bigger than ever.

Now Jon works towards creating content for his channel and his collaboration channel with polaris, his fan base continually growing as he recently grew to over 1 million subscribers.

Cosplay Bringing Gaming Into Reality

Cosplaying Bringing Gaming Into Reality

I went to MCM expo last year and while pacing down the aisles I always try and guess what people Cosplay as, I saw people in Cosplay portraying such things as Thor, Aperture scientist’s and even Alien. Now for those who don’t know what Cosplay is, it’s where you decide to dress up as your favorite characters from video games, anime and cartoons.

For some people they take this as serious as work, they put so much work into the costumes they produce, I’ve seen prices as high a £1500 for a tailor made costume. Now when people decide to take it serious they make it themselves, this process can take up to 4 month’s and A LOT of practicing. When people make Cosplay it gives it a more personal feel than buying a costume but it can ruin the quality overall.

Cosplay has become increasingly popular over the past couple of years, with the culture increasing growing there have been many groups popping up all over the place. There are many different groups that join up and meet, exchanging tips for Cosplaying even exchanging Cosplay itself.

Now I’ve managed infiltrate my home towns Cosplaying group the Birmingham Cosplay guild where I asked some of the members what they feel about Cosplay in general and this is what I got…

When asking the people of Birmingham what makes them cosplay? Most people said that it made them happy but I feel that the main reason is that its a community. The idea where a group of people that like the same things as you can gather share common interests and different opinions on the stuff they like. The Cosplay guild meet up every once and a while in the centre of birmingham and they just hang out, all in cosplay ill add. One Cosplayer commented “Seeing so much inspiration from others cosplayers and their abilities and trying it out for myself”. This goes to show you that with such a big community everyone makes an impact on each other one way or another.

I then followed on to ask them How is it different from other hobbies? The biggest thing with this one was creativity everyone has it, its just how you decide to use that creativity is how you get there. Creativity and cosplay go so well together complimenting them both nicely to create a awesome costume. This brings me to my next question of how much time and money it takes up? Everyone steared down the path of you can order it online and it be expensive but quick or you can make it yourself and it take longer but its cheaper. If you make it at the end you get a sense of accomplishment, a sense that you’ve achieved a goal after a big investment and months of work.

Now Birmingham’s guild is just one of thousands across the world, and each one is bigger than the next. And the one place that these groups come to battle it out to find out which one has the better Naruto is at conventions. Of course we have the biggest conventions like Comic-con and Blizzcon that draw in the largest amounts of cosplayers. Conventions are the godsend to all Cosplayers its a chance where you can show off your skills within the community.

Cosplaying has always been popular, rewarding hobby that brings a whole community together. Next MCM expo i might just try cosplaying as Jayce with a paper mache mercury hammer. Oh yeah the new pokemon game features pikachu in different Cosplay. So cute.

Gnar- The Missing Link

“Time marches on for most, but not Gnar. A yordle born millennia ago, Gnar was captured and trapped in true ice, frozen – quite literally – in time. Civilizations formed and fell as the prehistoric yordle vacantly stared on, but nothing – not even true ice – could confine Gnar forever. After breaking free, he wandered Runeterra until he found himself taken in by his yordle descendants. But, as they would soon discover, there’s a beast behind the boy.”

Passive: Rage Gene

Gnar builds up rage in combat. Once he fills his rage bar, Gnar’s next ability transforms him into Mega Gnar, giving him bonus armor, magic resist, health and attack damage at the expense of movement speed, attack speed and attack range. If Mini Gnar doesn’t use an ability, he transforms into Mega Gnar after a few seconds anyway. While in Mega Gnar form, his rage slowly runs down, and once it’s exhausted, he turns back into Mini Gnar. After transforming back, Mini Gnar briefly becomes tired and can’t gain rage for a few seconds.

Q: Mini Gnar – Boomerang Throw

Gnar chucks his boomerang in a target direction, dealing damage to the first enemy struck while applying a slow. After striking an enemy, the boomerang slows before returning to Gnar, dealing reduced damage to all enemies in its path. If Gnar catches it, he reduces Boomerang Throw’s cooldown significantly.

Q: Mega Gnar – Boulder Toss

Gnar launches a huge boulder in a target direction, damaging and slowing the first target in the boulder’s path along with all nearby enemies. Once it’s landed, Gnar can pick the boulder up to reduce Boulder Toss’ cooldown.

W: Mini Gnar – Hyper (passive)

Every third attack or ability against a target deals percent max health as magic damage. Whenever Hyper triggers, or when Mega Gnar transforms back into Mini Gnar, he gains a moderate movement speed boost that decays over time.

W: Mega Gnar – Wallop

Gnar stands on his back legs before slamming his fists into the ground, damaging and briefly stunning all enemies in front of him.

E: Mini Gnar – Hop

Gnar jumps in a target direction and gains a moderate attack speed boost. If Gnar lands on a unit, he bounces, hopping again in the same direction. If Gnar hops onto an enemy unit, he also damages and slows them.

E: Mega Gnar – Crunch

Gnar launches himself in a target direction, damaging and slowing all enemies he lands directly on.

R: Mega Gnar – GNAR!

Gnar throws a tantrum, tossing all enemies around him in a target direction. All enemies thrown are slowed and damaged, while enemies thrown into walls, including turrets and base structures, suffer extra damage and are stunned.
